FROM THE PASTOR

Jesus said, “I have come that they may have life, and have it abundantly” (John 10:10b).  Jesus wants to give you the greatest gift of all – a life that is abundant, joyful, and filled with peace.

Christians everywhere have unwrapped this wonderful present by faith in Christ and by becoming a part of God’s church in a local congregation.  We would like to invite you and your family to be our guest in our worship services.  We have a Praise Service in McDonough Hall at 9:00 a.m. every Sunday.  Our praise band leads us in worship using contemporary Christian music in an informal atmosphere.  At 10:00 a.m., we have Sunday School with classes for all ages.  At 11:00 a.m., we have Traditional Worship in the sanctuary, where we enjoy the music of our Chancel Choir, our beautiful organ, and our new grand piano.  We also have wonderful programs for persons of all ages that promote Christian discipleship.  You can read about these elsewhere on this website.

We would like you to consider visiting us and making our congregation your church home.  We are a congregation that is alive and on the grow.  We have been a lighthouse of hope in Silsbee for 105 years, ministering to the needs of one generation after another with fresh joy and vitality.

You will find us solid in our doctrine, and advocates of the high ethical standards of the Christian faith.  We worship one God whom we experience in three persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  We come to the Source of all life through the incarnate Son of God who died on the cross that we might know the full extent of the Father’s love for us and receive the forgiveness of our sins and be reconciled to God.  We are filled with his divine Spirit so we can be empowered to live a new life, dying to the ways of self-centeredness and human corruption.  The Bible, including both the Old and New Testaments, is our primary source and authority for our beliefs.  We are tolerant of different perspectives, and recognize that Christians of sincere faith can differ in their convictions about issues while agreeing together about the core doctrines of the Christian faith.

Our congregation may be just the place you are looking for to come to Christ and practice Christian discipleship

I hope to see you this Sunday,

     Pastor Dan Darby
